Seeing Art in Photography

Photography is an art actually see, not the art of shooting, "said Julian Sihombing, senior photographer Kompas Daily, in a discussion in the Pontianak, West Kalimantan.A few hours before returning to Jakarta on Monday, senior photographer with a number of other professional photographers, to share experiences to students of architecture from the University of Tanjungpura, members of the media photographers and photography clubs in the city of Pontianak.Although visibly tired after shooting (Art Photography) Singkawang resident activities, but the father of two sons is still the spirit of sharing knowledge. In front of hundreds of participants, he said, a revolution in photography occurred in the last 10 years that marked the digital photography that have sprung up like mushrooms everywhere.

But the Reuters photo editor reminds us not to judge the generated image of the scene because the camera used. "But our taste that ends with the camera," he said. Camera, according to it, it makes it easy to work, but not everything. So he was called as part of the photographic art of seeing and photographing not art. To the young photographer, Julian had to pursue the world of photography since the late 80s and during the seven years to concentrate on sports photo coverage, the state should never be discouraged.

Learning Photography with Digital Cameras

The first thing to note is the choice of digital cameras. You should know what you want, pocket directly or prosumer or DSLR? Just do not ever choose a digital camera that can complicate the operation yourself. After that get to know your camera, at least at least one month before shooting was really you.

1. Always carry a camera wherever you go.
Camera = lover, now is the lens of your eye, your point of view = frame, and you can see when it is the composition of space and time. What you see is the object of the dressing-room background and the beautiful wherever it is, where the light emitted from the time. So the morning and evening is suitable for you to stroll with your camera.
When you are traveling, whether it's going to go to work, school, church, or being a leisurely stroll, capture every moment of interest to you, no time for thinking .. exposure to the object, and not too often review after pictures, because you might lose some precious moments with your object, at this level that you're after is the quantity rather than quality (not time)
Remember, the main reason why you missed a great moment to be photographed is because you do not bring a camera. Make it a habit to always carry a camera wherever you go because you do not know the moments or scenes of what you'll see later.

Directly in DSLR cameras: Any function

Most of us make the process of editing and retouch photos are only on the computer, but for those of you who do not really know Photoshop or Lightroom, DSLR camera photo editing capabilities are also provided by camera manufacturers. Although not as advanced picture processing capability Photoshop or Lightroom and is not recommended, in-camera photo editing features gives the advantage when we really do not have time to sit too long staring at photoshop. The results of the edited photos on a camera in it is stored separately in addition to the original photo, so meretouch photos on the camera is not at risk of damaging the original image.

Here are some of the functions of retouch and edit photos on the average DSLR cameras (for this article is based on the Nikon, but you can find features that are similar to other DSLR getting on camera though different names):

Image Stabilization When Using a Tripod, What You Need To Know?

Image Stabilization (or Vibration Reduction on Nikon) is a technology that is in some Canon and Nikon DSLR lenses. Enough to activate the Image Stabilization (IS), the photographer can take sharp photos in low light conditions without the aid of a tripod - alias using a long shutter speed while hand-held cameras only - no images to blur.
Image Stabilization or Vibration Reduction function reduces the effects of vibration during the shooting to be more stable and the edges become sharper images. IS or VR is claimed to make us stay sharp pictures even in conditions of exposure over 2 to 3 stops slower.
One thing that is frequently asked readers via e-mail is: "whether there is the effect when we take photos using a tripod while you turn on the IS or VR?"
The answer really depends on the type of lens models of IR / VR is. At the beginning of IS and VR technology is introduced, some of the photos taken with the lens IS / VR is turned on while using a tripod even just blur. The reason is that the default image stabilization technology will find the camera movement. So when the camera is mounted on a tripod so the camera becomes very stable, then the IS and VR will only create confusion so that the image becomes blurry.

Understanding Shutter Speed

By definition, the shutter speed is the time frame when the shutter on your camera is open. More easily, shutter speed means less time in which the sensor we 'see' the subject which we will photograph. Simply shutter speed is the time between pressing the shutter button on our camera until the button is back to its original position.
So easy, we translate this concept in some of its use in cameras:
  1. Setting the shutter speed of 500 means the span of your camera as much as 1/500 (seperlimaratus) seconds. Yes, the shortest and the spark of it. While for the exposure time of 30 seconds, you'll see something like this: 30''
  2. Setting the shutter speed on your camera is usually in multiples of 2, so we'll see a row like this: 1/500, 1/250, 1/125, 1/60, 1/30 ff. Now almost all of the camera also allows setting 1/3 stop, so less movement of the shutter speed is more dense; 1/500, 1/400, 1/320, 1/250, 1/200, 1/160 ... and so on.
  3. To produce a sharp image, use a shutter speed that is safe. Rule is safe in most conditions is setting shutter speed 1/60 or faster, so that the resulting image will be sharp and safely shaded from the photo (blurry / unfocused). We can outsmart the safe limits of this with a tripod or use the Image Stabilization feature (discussed in upcoming posts)

SLR Cameras

You might have been quite satisfied with the quality of the image of a tiny pocket camera. Then begin to love watching pictures in magazines that look wah .. a super sharp image, the color is beautiful all-round, face portrait with a blurred background, waterfall with a seemingly very soft like cotton or photograph birds that are shot ... photo - photo this quality is average - average generated from SLR cameras.

So whether it's SLR? SLR stands for single lens reflex, a term that is quite complex to explain. But the principle is the type of camera where we peek through the lens of the object image (photographic jargon: through the lens). Large black camera is certainly not going to fit Your Pocket and quite expensive.

But in terms of quality, this camera producing pictures of cool giant iklam dimajalah or on the road. Once turned on you can simply take pictures, there is no shutter lag, capable of recording 3 photos in 1 second, manual controls to satisfy virtually all shooting parameters, and could be used shooting thousands of photos without running out of batteries.

Pocket Camera

Pocket camera

Pocket camera is a type of camera the majority (nearly 90%) which is in the hands of consumers. As the name implies, this camera is small and really get into the pocket on your shirt.Pocket camera can produce images that are usually good, sometimes outstanding. Pocket camera is also capable of recording video, extra features are very useful and preferred by consumers. However, please note the words in bold above. Usually good and sometimes outstanding is the reason why the true photography enthusiasts (and pro photographers) pocket camera eye view - merely as a stepping stone or as a back up.There are several factors that make compact cameras are limited:
